Light Omega and Feeding People

There is within each human being, the need to link one’s human embodiment with the divine core within. This is the purpose of Creation and of spiritual evolution, and it applies to each individual life as well as to the life of the world. Feeding people is one area in which this joining can take place most beautifully and with the deepest expression of love and sacredness.

“There are no longer strangers, only beloveds.”

In relation to this, since its beginning, Light Omega has been feeding people spiritual food to uplift, nourish, sustain, and expand the embodied life of each soul. The desire to nourish, to feed, and to bless has been central to Light Omega’s heart since the beginning. The desire to nourish others physically, however, only began in 2018 with the advent of the Feed the Hungry Donation Fund.

This fund came into being following GurujiMa’s first trip to India which  awakened within her the need to feed people as she had witnessed the holy sadhus who had no means of support   being fed on the streets of Thiruvannamalai.  She understood that such an act and the desire behind it was what human beings must learn to hold for one another, and especially must learn toward those in a state of need. For feeding others in need touches the core of what it means to be human. Out of this came the Feed the Hungry Donation Fund which focused on eight  international and domestic food distributing organizations that provided food for communities in zones of deprivation, food insecurity, or famine, worldwide. Out of this also came the desire to feed people locally who did not have enough to eat, and the wish to support local organizations that provided food for them on a daily basis.

As with love itself, the desire to feed people grew and went to deeper levels, and in 2020 when Light Omega became the Village of Light Ashram, this motive increased. In 2023, the ashram community deepened its understanding of sacred meal preparation, and began to share in the responsibility for feeding people within the community who were having difficulty feeding themselves.  This was new in community life, and it was understood that the preparing of food was not only a physical act of providing nourishment, but a spiritual act of responsibility  for caring as we would wish all beings to care for each other.

Sacred meal preparation in 2025 became extended to the unhoused within the local area who could not cook for themselves.  The need was presented to us as part of an effort to provide for the unhoused on many levels, and it enabled the ashram to expand its heart further in the direction of feeding others.

For many upon a spiritual path and even for those who are not consciously so, the act of offering nourishment to others is a gift to the giver. Those who feed people with love, especially who feed those in need, know this to be true. It is one of the most fundamental ways in which human beings can love each other, of such significance that it can become a spiritual path in itself. This is because it awakens the human heart to its own generosity, and lets it know that to love and serve others is the reason why we are here. Out of this desire to nourish, we are nourished. Out of this desire to care for others, we become one with the heart of love.
